Zach Galifianakis reportedly cancelled a press appearance as he was too afraid to scale a mountain.
The American comedian stars as hapless Alan in The Hangover movie franchise and has been promoting the third and final instalment recently.
One of the interviews called on him to appear on a peak, not far from the infamous Sugarloaf Mountain in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Although Zach had good intensions, when it came down to it he was too paralysed by fear to be involved.
"The only way to get up there was by cable car,” an insider told New York Post. “Zach was too afraid to ride up."
The 43-year-old star refused to let fans down though, so gave a telephone interview instead.
"Zach is afraid of heights, and called into the press conference to let participants know, and made a few jokes," a Warner Bros. representative explained.
The Hangover III also stars Bradley Cooper and Ed Helms, both of who were on hand to cover for Zach. They took the trip 220 metres up the mountain and had a great time answering questions.
While shooting the movie, Zach had to get to grips with his fear as one scene called on him to be on top of a high building. Alan is seen trying to help Bradley's character Phil from the roof of Las Vegas' Caesars Palace as Phil dangles from the side.
"We were really high, actually. They re-built the facade of Caesars Palace inside the largest studio at Warner Brothers. I think it was about 60 [feet tall], there was about seven or eight floors," Bradley previously explained.
"Zach was a real trooper because he's very scared of heights. And he kept saying, 'Well, what if there's an earthquake?' He said they were just gonna leave me [hanging]."
