Zack Snyder has revealed there is a unique air of “gravitas” infused in Batman v Superman.
The director is currently filming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which sees Ben Affleck taking on the role of Bruce Wayne and Henry Cavill portraying Clark Kent.
The Caped Crusader will have an entirely different tone in the forthcoming feature.
“There is just this gravitas to Batman,” Zack stressed in an interview with Empire magazine. “He is operatic.”
Several superheroes from the DC Comics universe make an appearance in Dawn of Justice.
Gal Gadot stars in the picture as Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa steps in as Aquaman and Ezra Miller plays The Flash.
Zack insists the appearance of all these characters are part of a methodical plan, not some surprise cameo nonsense.
“I want all the other directors of the other films to be able to stretch their legs and do what they want, but at the same time there is a big interconnected universe,” the filmmaker noted.
As for Superman, actor Henry claims his character is not necessarily likeable in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
The Man of Steel seems to be dealing with a lot of personal troubles in the picture.
“In this movie, everyone has split into different directions as to how they feel about this alien," Henry explained. "Some people love him, some hate him. Other people fear him. Is he a tyrant?"
Helmer Zack has previously detailed why he wanted to portray Superman in a different, more vulnerable light.
“You would be a misfit if you were that powerful,” he told British newspaper The Guardian.
“It’s a weird way to look at it, that everyone thinks, ‘Oh, if I had these powers, my problems would be solved.’ And then you see no, he doesn’t fit in; the world is problematic for him. I think we can imagine… When I was young and felt like I didn’t fit in – I didn’t have superpowers – but I could understand what he was feeling.”
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice reaches American theatres March 25, 2016.
