Zendaya is hoping Fashion Police will be more “positive” when it returns later this year.

The stunning 18-year-old Disney Channel star found herself at the centre of controversy after Fashion Police host Giuliana Rancic made a racially insensitive comment about the teenager’s dreadlocked hair while presenting for the E! programme on the Oscars red carpet in February.

In March E! network announced Fashion Police will be on hiatus until September, with Giuliana returning to her post, and Zendaya hopes the panellists will be less insulting this time around.

“Honestly, I just like to see positive things and positive reinforcement. I wanted this to be a positive experience and for people to learn from it, people to grow from it," she told ET Online on the set of her Disney show, K.C. Undercover.

"That's all that I hope. That their show is able to learn and grow and hopefully positive -- be more positive."

Shortly after Giuliana said Zendaya’s hairdo smelled of “patchouli oil” or “weed” on the Academy Awards red carpet, Fashion Police was sent into chaos because co-hosts Kelly Osbourne and Kathy Griffin both resigned.

With Giuliana and Brad Goreski both returning to the panel, Fashion Police is still looking for two people to fill the seats of Kelly and Kathy. But Zendaya is clueless as to who will serve as good replacements to reinforce the more positive slant she hopes the programme will embody.

"I have no idea," she said. "I have no idea. Girl, I am so busy on this show."

Joan Rivers co-hosted Fashion Police from 2010 until her death in September 2014 and Kathy joined the panel a few months after the comedic legend’s demise.

Kathy noted on Twitter last month she left Fashion Police after filming only seven episodes because her style “does not fit with the creative direction of the show”.
