Gerard Butler has joked that he wishes he was "a Latino" because of the "great camaraderie between people".

The actor made his debut appearance on Spanish TV by appearing on a morning show called Despierta America.

The Scottish actor was promoting his upcoming movie Playing for Keeps and admitted he felt overwhelmed by the cast on the high energy morning show.

“I wish I was a Latino because everyone is from a different country, but there such a great camaraderie between everybody," Gerard stuttered. "All the women [Latinas] are unbelievably beautiful, and the guys are so fun. It’s a really nice atmosphere."

Gerard confessed he was suffering from jet lag during his interview with Mexican TV host Karla Martinez. The bemused actor joked he was feeling intimidated by the cast as a result of his sleep deprivation and inability to speak Spanish.

“It’s intense, and I gotta say in this small space there’s probably about 16 sugars, and about five servings of coffee, so it’s like a jolt,” Gerard joked. “I can’t believe the energy in this place [the set], and I felt like I was coming into the lion’s den. It’s like the whole floor was shaking before I walked on. I don’t know what’s going on in there.”
