The Swedish star - who plays vampire Eric Northman in the hit TV drama – doesn’t opt for a modesty saving “sock” like many of his fellow actors and insists he is happy to be nude on set.

He said: "I don't want a sock around it - that feels ridiculous. If we’re naked in the scene, then I’m naked. I’ve always been that way."

However, Alexander’s co-star Stephen Moyer – who is engaged to 'True Blood' actress Anna Paquin – does opt for something to cover his appendage.

He said: "I've got nothing to hide. I just think it might be embarrassing for the crew."

Stephen - who plays vampire Bill Compton in the series – thinks one of the main reasons why ‘True Blood’ is popular is because people find vampires “sexy”.

He told Rolling Stone magazine: "If we go from a base level, vampires create a hole in the neck where there wasn't one before. It's a de-virginisation - creating blood and then drinking the virginal blood. And there's something sharp, the fang, which is probing and penetrating and moving into it. So that's pretty sexy. I think that makes vampires attractive."
