Empire Cinemas is delighted to announce it will be hosting autism friendly screenings of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time on Sunday 8th June at 5pm.

This screening of the award-winning production will welcome people with an Autism Spectrum Condition, sensory or communication disorders or learning disabilities to enjoy the play.

Reduced sound levels, increased lighting and advert-free content allow the audience, their families and companions to be comfortable and feel fully included in the unique experience of a trip to the cinema.

Over the past year, Empire Cinemas has been programming autism friendly screenings for the local communities. Empire Cinemas endeavours to be as inclusive as possible, to all our customers.

Following a successful live broadcast in 2012, an encore screening of the popular adaptation of The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-Time hits the screens from the National Theatre Live. Based on the acclaimed novel by Mark Haddon, adapted by Simon Stephens and directed by Marianne Elliott, the production won seven Olivier Awards in 2013, including Best New Play.

The production follows fifteen year old Christopher, who has an extraordinary brain – exceptional at maths while ill-equipped to interpret everyday life. When he falls under suspicion of killing Mrs Shears' dog Wellington, he records each fact about the event in the book he is writing to solve the mystery of the murder. But his detective work, forbidden by his father, takes him on a frightening journey that upturns his world.
