Audrey Tautou has never learnt anything about love from the movies she's starred in.

The 37-year-old beauty has played the lead in an array of French romantic comedies over the years, the most popular being 2001 hit Amélie. However, despite all these roles Audrey hasn't taken away any knowledge from the lovey-dovey storylines.

"It's difficult because no movie, I would say, taught me anything about love. I've been moved by some love stories, [like] when I watched Titanic or even When Harry Met Sally," she explained to elle.com.

"But I can't say that any movie taught me anything because movies are not like real life. There is always a little cheat. It's simplified when you make it prettier. In real life, these kinds of situations are filled with questions and doubts. I don't think this aspect is something we see in movies."

Audrey's latest feature is Mood Indigo, based on Boris Vian's 1968 novel of the same name. She plays Chloé, a woman whose lover Colin (Romain Duris) seeks to find a cure for her after she's diagnosed with an strange illness caused by a flower growing in her lungs.

The brunette star recites a line to her onscreen beau during their first date, “We have the rest of our lives to get it right" - a statement which Audrey shared her opinion on.

"I like the idea, and the serenity in believing that together can last forever. It's nice not to see each day, or moment, as an emergency, and not to feel as if tomorrow there won't be another chance or possibility in a relationship," she added. "In the movie, of course, the line is something very romantic and sad. Chloé is saying we have our whole life to get it right, but she's wrong."
