Liam Neeson: I'm wary of phone call films

Liam Neeson worries about doing a film based around "another f**king phone call".

The actor delighted fans in 2008 cult flick Taken, about a man fighting to save his kidnapped daughter. He became well known for classic line "I will find you and I will kill you", which he utters during a call with one of the abductors.

Liam, 62, also stars in action mystery Walk Among the Tombstones about a private investigator tasked with finding a drug kingpin's kidnapped wife. Initially he was hesitant about accepting the part.

"When I first read Scott's [Scott Frank, director-and-writer] script, I hesitated," he admitted to Empire magazine.

"Because I thought, 'Here we go, here's another f**king telephone call, talking to the bad guys.' So there was this huge question mark before taking it on."

While many of the cast listened to strange music to get in the mood for the gritty film, Liam said he had his own way of inhabiting that space. His wife Natasha Richardson tragically passed away in 2009 following a skiing accident.

"I knew what was required and I can easily access that kind of darkness, you know," he said.

The actor has two sons, Micheál and Daniel, with his late wife. He's previously revealed it's not just his fans that are obsessed with Taken - his kids are too.

“I have recorded a special voicemail [with Taken quotes] so many times for my kids!” he laughed to Australian radio hosts Kyle and Jackie O.

“And they have to prompt me on the lines, because I forgot them, which is a little embarrassing!”
