Bryan Singer has inked an X-Men related ‘X-Tattoo’ on his body.

The 48-year-old filmmaker has directed several films in the Marvel mutant franchise, including X-Men I and II, Days of Future Past and forthcoming movie, X-Men: Apocalypse.

And the helmer loves the series so much he decided to immortalise it on his body via a tattoo in the presence of Sir Patrick Stewart, who plays Professor X.

“Getting my X-Tattoo with @sirpatstew witnessing midnight. Thanks @SSC_Tattoo & @Louie_perez_3_SSC,” Bryan wrote to fans on Instagram.

His message captioned an image which sees Bryan lying on his belly while Patrick stands above a tattoo artist who is inking a piece on the director’s right calf.

Bryan has his mouth agape and appears to be screaming with discomfort while he holds a red plastic cup in his hand.

X-Men: Days of Future Past has been a huge hit at the box office since its release three months ago, having garnered $744 million in lifetime international gross profits.

The film’s cast boasts an all-star line-up, which includes Hugh Jackman, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence and Halle Berry amongst others.

News of the tattoo is quite light in comparison to the legal trouble the director has endured recently.

In April Bryan was named in a case filed by Michael Egan, who claimed the filmmaker molested him as a teenager while he was involved in an illegal sex ring.

But earlier this month Egan filed a motion to withdraw his lawsuit and Variety reported US District Judge Barry M. Kurren granted this request.

X-Men: Apocalypse is slated to reach theatres in 2016.
