Cara Delevingne could soon be channelling her modelling background for a big screen role.

The British beauty has been making moves to leave the catwalk in favour of a career as an actress, with parts in movie Anna Karenina and upcoming flicks The Face of an Angel and Pan.

Now Hollywood bigwigs reportedly want to line her up for a role in Zoolander 2, the hotly anticipated sequel to Ben Stiller's 2001 hit.

"Ben and producers want a big-name model for the film and they need to be jokers and full of natural comedy," a source told British newspaper The Sun.

"They’ve been closely following Cara and her antics during the past couple of years.

"They are still working out what the exact role will be but it’s likely to include a lot of goofing around.”

Cara is apparently keen to say yes, with the role thought to be the female lead.

The second instalment is set to be helmed by Justin Theroux and has been in the pipeline for quite some time. Ben is said to be eager for the queen of the catwalk to sign up.

"Everything Cara’s done has been super serious and worthy but her agents think it’s time she spread her wings. It could be the role to make her name in the US.

“Initial meetings have taken place with the agents but now Ben wants to meet Cara and work out if their chemistry is good," the insider added.

The 22-year-old style star isn't the only big name model to be approached though as it's thought Cara's good friend, and the girlfriend of Bradley Copper, Suki Waterhouse is also being considered for a part.

As the premise of the movie is to poke fun at models, a lot of real runway stars will be making an appearance.

“Zoolander 2 will be casting a lot of models because the producers want to make it bigger and better than the first film.

“They will be scouting for the original big-name supermodels to be involved but they’re very aware that there are not a lot of models who can act.

“Suki and Cara could be exactly what the film needs to ensure it’s a box-office hit," the source said.
