Rebel Wilson remembers Robin Williams

Rebel Wilson remembers how "shocked" she was when Robin Williams complimented her acting.

The 28-year-old actress starred alongside the late actor, who took his own life in August, in upcoming children's movie Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb. Robin reprised his role as US President Theodore Roosevelt in the third instalment of the franchise while newcomer Rebel played security guard Tilly.

After shooting opposite main man Ben Stiller, the blonde actress recalled her disbelief when Robin approached her on set.

"He watched me in a scene with Ben Stiller and called me over to his trailer afterwards and he just said, 'I think you're such a great improviser and you're so funny,'" she told Australian radio station Kiis FM.

"I was so shocked that the Robin Williams was speaking to me and the fact that he was watching me for the last four hours and wanted to tell me all this stuff about comedy for about two hours. It was just, I couldn't believe I got to have that time with him and how cool."

The world was shocked when the news of Robin's death came out on August 11. He had been fighting the early stages of Parkinson's disease, a degenerative disorder, as well as suffering from depression.

One of the movie's scenes in particular had Rebel in tears when she watched it back, where Roosevelt giving a speech before his own untimely death.

"It's just so emotional because in the movie his character knows he's not going to be alive the next day and he gives this speech and it was just me and my assistant Katie just sitting in this screening room just crying," she added. "It's super, super emotional."

Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb is out in cinemas later this year.
