Sir Michael Caine sad it simply is not worth reading Christopher Nolan's scripts, as they are always "a hit".

The 81-year-old has teamed up with the iconic director six times now, most recently on sci-fi movie Interstellar. Christopher is known for using the same stars in many of his films and Michael is so confident in his talent, he signs up straight away.

"You spend your life as an actor making a picture saying, 'Is it gonna be a hit? Is it gonna be a miss?' I'd have six pictures working with Christopher and every one was a hit. So, whenever he says, 'You wanna do a movie?' I say, 'Yes'. He says, 'You wanna read the script?' I say, 'No,'" Michael smiled to Cover Media at the European press conference for Interstellar.

"It's quite extraordinary working with him because he also writes it and nothing is what it seems. I mean the first time he contacted me with a script he came to my house in the country and he said, 'I've got a movie,' and I said, 'What is it?' and he said, 'Batman [Begins].' And I thought, ‘I'm too old to play Batman. What does he want me to play?’ And he said, 'I want you to play the butler'... So I read the script and it wasn't a butler, it was a foster father of Batman. Nothing is what it seems with Chris."

Interstellar leading man Matthew McConaughey, who plays pilot Cooper, was also at the event. When asked what challenges he faced when transforming from a Texan cowboy in Dallas Buyers Club to a space cowboy this time around, the actor praised Christopher's approach to shooting.

"Dallas Buyers Club was a very small independent film that we shot very quickly and it was very earth bound. This was a much larger picture... and there's much larger scope and scale and set pieces," he explained. "When you're acting in a Chris Nolan film it's just as intimate and raw and natural as most independents like Dallas Buyers Club are forced to feel, because you don't have the time, you don't have the money. But we had the time and we had the money on Interstellar."
