Lily Collins says her dad tells her not to bother reading reviews.

The 25-year-old actress is the daughter of rocker Phil Collins and Jill Tavelman. She doesn't rely on her parents for tips on the industry she's in; although they have handed her a couple of worthwhile titbits on dealing with fame.

"My dad always tells me not to focus on reviews, and my mom always says, 'As long as you're doing this because you want to, then it's the right decision - and no one can tell you otherwise.' So, no regrets," she told the American edition of OK! magazine.

In her latest movie, Love, Rosie, Lily plays the title character, who has a confusing relationship with her best friend Alex, portrayed by Sam Claflin. The fictitious pair have been close since they were five and, as they get older, they begin to wonder if there could be more to their relationship.

The flick was directed by Christian Ditter, who came up with a novel way to ensure Lily and Sam could perform as he wanted. It was important they managed to crack their characters, as the casting director was so adamant they were right for the story, there was no one else featured on the 'possible star' list.

"It was very lovely to have that be the case!" Lily enthused. "Christian made me and Sam sit really close to each other, analyse each other's faces and say things about each other, so that afterward we had an awkward history, which was perfect for the movie - and that really helped create a history to play Rosie and Alex."
