Jane Fonda is “going to create a shrine” to herself.

The legendary actress celebrated her 77th birthday on Sunday. And the star decided to post a blog on her website about her somewhat unusual plans for the future.

“While meditating today an idea came to me: I’m going to create a shrine to myself – or, at least, the self I wish to be, the self who began to manifest when I was a young girl before the s**t hit the fan,” she confessed.

The Monster-in-Law star is extremely glamorous for her age. But despite being idolised by millions and respected by her peers, the star feels the new addition to her home is needed to help with her self-esteem.

“I’ve found myself backsliding a bit of late in terms of where my thoughts have tended to reside (not always with the generosity of vision I wish for) and my confidence has been iffy for the past four months,” she added.

The shrine will be a small place which Jane will fill with objects that remind her of “the qualities that best represent myself”. Her new year’s resolution is to gather items that remind her of times when she was brave.

“I’ve been forgetting that,” she continued, “I will put a special candle on the shrine and burn sandalwood and put some special Native American artifacts that I’ve treasured over the years in honor of the Mohawk Nation where my Fonda ancestors built their homestead.”

Despite all her years in showbusiness, the star has had another busy year. In June, the actress received the American Film Institute’s Life Achievement Award at Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre, where she was feted by fellow A-listers Meryl Streep, Sally Field and Sandra Bullock.

However she chose to have an intimate birthday gathering rather than a lavish celebrity do, with just her boyfriend Richard Perry, brother Peter Fonda and his wife, Parky.
