Val Kilmer was rushed to hospital this week after he started bleeding from the throat, it has been claimed.
The 55-year-old actor is reportedly being treated for a suspected throat tumour after paramedics were called to his Malibu home on Monday according to TMZ.
The outlet added on Friday that the Top Gun actor had been taken to UCLA Medical Center in Santa Monica after someone called 911 and reported bleeding.
Doctors performed surgery and he's currently recovering.
Val was last seen in public at a Clippers basketball game on January 16 with his son Jack, 19. Throughout the game the actor had his neck covered with a black scarf.
TMZ added that it seems his family are upset at the thought of their loved one ignoring the symptoms until they got to the point of hospitalisation.
The father-of-two’s throat problems could be potentially traced back to October when he attended a small claims court for a dispute with his former landlord. The Batman Forever actor told the judge that he was unable to speak because his tongue was swollen.
Other than his outing to the basketball game, the actor has kept a relatively low profile in recent months. He’s even gone quiet on social networking sites, with his last post on Twitter being published on December 22 to pay his respects to singer Joe Cocker when he passed away at the age of 70.
“Ah. What a mighty mighty original voice is gone. Joe Cocker one of the all time soul of Rock and Roller Kings will be missed forever,” he wrote.
A rep for the actor is yet to comment on the reports of his hospitalisation.
