Rosamund Pike is reportedly in talks to star alongside Christian Bale.

The 36-year-old actress has enjoyed huge success in recent months thanks to her last movie Gone Girl, a role which earned her an Oscar nomination.

And now Rosamund is said to have already lined up her next part.

According to Variety, the stunning blonde is set to play the female lead opposite Christian in The Deep Blue Good-by.

The film is based on the 1964 novel by John D. MacDonald, the first book in a 21-long series, and will be directed by James Mangold.

The script has been written by Dennis Lehane, with Scott Frank stepping in to help on the final draft.

It will tell the story of Christian’s character Travis McGee, a “salvage consultant” who finds himself in trouble as he attempts to recover other people’s property for them.

As he does so, he manages to find time to get up close and personal with the opposite sex – which is presumably where Rosamund’s character comes into play.

Rosamund is certainly keeping herself busy these days.

Following the incredible worldwide success of Gone Girl, which is estimated to have grossed more than $350 million at the box office, her skills are very much in demand.

After Gone Girl, in which she starred as the troubled Amy Dunne alongside Ben Affleck as her husband Nick, Rosamund signed up to appear in another Fox project – The Mountain Between Us.

However, due to the survival drama needing specific weather conditions to film in, Rosamund will shoot The Deep Blue Good-by first.
