Steve Martin was intimidated by Diane Keaton.
The comedian-and-actor worked with the Oscar winner in 1991's Father of the Bride. Despite the fact that Steve had been in the industry for decades, he was a little daunted about working with the actress.
"I was always a little intimidated by Diane," he told People before adding that he had no reason to be. "You wouldn't believe the things that come out of her mouth."
Steve has been fortunate to work with some of the industry's biggest names during his career including Meryl Streep, Sir Michael Caine and Goldie Hawn. And when it came to the Private Benjamin star, he had nothing but high praise.
"She has this incredible joie de vivre," he said of Goldie. "At lunch [on the set of The Out-of-Towners] I would just sit with her and have her talk. She's just so full of life."
Steve made the move into film in 1972 with Another Nice Mess after years as a stand up comedian. While some people would be nervous about trying their hand at a new skill or genre, the 69-year-old was the exact opposite.
"I had no nerves, I was so full of confidence," he confessed. "I was so tired of being on the road. And I liked that you do something and really get it right, and it would stay that way."
Sure enough Steve took to acting like a duck to water and starred in hit movies including The Jerk, Three Amigos and Planes, Trains and Automobiles. Another successful outing was with Queen Latifah in 2003's Bringing Down the House.
"This was a bold movie," he admitted. "And she was so game for anything. I knew she was a rapper, and I didn't understand that world. But she was so sweet."
