Hugely popular Las Vegas show, ABSINTHE by Spielelworld, has arrived in Melbourne exhilarating and offending viewers in one fell swoop. Opening night on the beautiful rooftop at Crown Casino was filled with non-stop shenanigans and hilarity.

Since 2011, the show has been playing to sold-out audiences at the world famous Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, with celebrities regularly flocking to catch the show.

ABSINTHE follows Spiegelworld’s record-breaking show EMPIRE, seen by over 200,000 Australians. Drawing inspiration from the late 19th century, absinthe-drenched European cabarets, the show is a mix of acrobatics, burlesque, comedy and dance.

Hosted by the foul-mouthed Gazillionaire and his wild assistant Penny Pibbets, ABSINTHE is offbeat and quirky. Although the show is hilarious, it’s not for everyone.

If you are easily offended or insulted about: sex, politics, religion, race, or sexual orientation, then this show is not for you. Just about anything goes in ABSINTHE. It’s raunchy, racy, rude and crude; therefore, a sense of humour is a must.

As the setting is quite intimate, veer away from the front row unless you do not mind being picked on. Poor Dan and Dani from The Block know this all too well.

Some may find the Gazillionaire’s comments to be obscene; I however, enjoyed his quick wit and couldn’t wait for him to return to the stage between acts. His comedic timing and observation skills were impeccable and he had the audience roaring with laughter.

The acts, which are best described as extreme circus acts, were phenomenal. Let’s just say the Frat Pack on the high wire and Los Dos Tacos on the horizontal bars amped up my adrenaline levels to new heights. I was literally holding my breath as they performed their extraordinary routines.

I’ve reviewed many shows over the years and ABSINTHE has quickly become one of my all time favorites. Edgy, funny and absolutely mind-blowing.
