As is often the case a group of teenage or backpacking types descend on a farm in the middle of no where. Drawn by the apparently awful goings on that had taken place at the sight. So when Aussie pals Donkey and Jason set off with their two lady friends, in order too discover the truth to these outlandish and horrible stories, well we all know where it will end. Death, body parts, nudity, sliced off limbs and even maybe a lost male member...

I must firstly say, it is nice to see Tara Reid back. Reid is good in her role as a scream queen and could go far with this stick! I love aussie films as they are often humor filled and gore flaying greats. Now I love horror films for a multitude of different reasons. I love them because they can be great works of satire or great works of political thought. Sometimes I love them because they have used genre conventions well or because they have been mixed up. Sometimes it is because a film maker has perfected the art of scaring us half to death by using classic techniques well or using them to create black comedy. To get to the point I have to tell you what it is I love or not about said film and why it is you love or loath it.

This film has a little of this final point within its core. It has used humor, darkly black humor in order to laugh at the Ozploitation horror films of say Wolf Creek and the southern American horror of say Wrong turn. It does this black humor well enough. Grizzly scenes of carnage are mixed with great chuckles of horror glee but the film fails where it laughs. The laughs it creates are hollow and seem more to be derived from an idea of grim and bare it style, laugh because it is so horrible.

Horrible is not solid enough to work as a horror comedy film. Horrible works as a satire if balanced with truths. This film lacks these truths and instead ends up going on and on about killing and gutting. It wants to be Texas Chainsaw massacre in many respects but misses the point of that films ultimate reason for working, pure terror and pure real visceral fear. This film is too gimmick laden for a great horror film. Chris Sun has some great skill in what he does, I wished he only used the stalk and slash of the start and not the cock ripping, slit throat stupidity of the end...
