For horror fans worldwide, it’s what they have been waiting for since 1986!

Written by Stefan Hutchinson and Barry Keating, with artwork by Jeff Zornow and Peter Fielding, DEMONS 3 is finally here!
Arrow Films will release limited edition deluxe versions of director Lamberto Bava and producer Dario Argento’s blood-curdling zombie horror classics DEMONS and DEMONS 2. Available as restored Blu-ray, DVD and Steelbook editions, these bone-chilling releases will include DEMONS 3, an exclusive and specially commissioned 2-part comic book.

Restored from the original camera negatives by Cineteca di Bologna, these highly anticipated horror reissues breathe new fire and unrelenting fury into the notorious and now-legendary DEMONS franchise.

Each of these special releases will come packaged with a variety of reversible and interchangeable original Anglo/Italian and newly commissioned artwork by Jeff Zornow, a double-sided fold-out poster, an exclusive collector’s booklet featuring new writing on the franchise by Calum Waddell, plus Books 1 & 2 of the aforementioned DEMONS 3 collector’s comic.

For the first time, Arrow Films presents the original sequel to the first two DEMONS cult classics in the shape of a new comic book, titled DEMONS 3.
“Over the years, there have been many films bearing the moniker of Demons 3”, continues comic book creator Stefan Hutchinson, “but none of them were genuine sequels. We tried to set the record straight with the Demons 3 comic book. The comic is a gruesome and violent horror tale that will show the first two films in a totally new light. With Jeff Zorro’s chilling artwork, we’ve created a sequel that’s like a 70’s Marvel comic on crack.”

It is the 16th Century, the time of the plague in Southern France. Amid the carnage, a new evil is starting to take form and only Nostradamus can see it. Are his horrifying visions of the future signs of what will come to pass? Can he stop the demons from taking over the world? Judging from the terrific artwork, DEMONS 3 is bound to take over the world’s many DEMONS fans! Detailed and gory, the comic book version is bound to give you nightmares just as the two movies did.

The original DEMONS film was released in 1985 and is renowned not only for its then x-rated gory violence but its 80’s ‘hair metal’ soundtrack – including tracks by Mötley Crüe, Saxon, Billy Idol, Accept and Pretty Maids.
Filmed mainly in Berlin (with some scenes shot in Rome), the plot revolves around a strange cinema where an unsuspecting audience watches a splatter horror flick. Amongst the viewers are students Cheryl and Kathy, who got free tickets to the show from a mysterious stranger. O of the female audience members, Rosy, accidentally pricks her skin while jokingly placing a bizarre mask, which is displayed in the lobby, on her face. When the film begins, one of the characters wears the same mask as the one displayed in the lobby. A short time later, Rosy feels blood dripping from her face and goes to the rest room to inspect the wound. As she stands in front of the mirror, the scratch suddenly bursts open and she turns into a fanged demon. Attacking the other guests one after another, the goings-on in the auditorium strangely seem to mirror what’s going on in the movie shown. Those not yet infected try to escape panic-stricken, only to realize they have been bricked up in the building…

One year later, DEMONS 2 was unleashed, bringing hell straight out of the TV-set into people’s living rooms. Several years after an outbreak of demonic activity, a German television station broadcasts a special dramatization of the events of that terrible night. Once again, there is a film within a film in DEMONS 2. Here, a group of youngsters trespass on the grounds of an old castle. Finding the lifeless corpse of a demon, one of the teens accidentally causes it to revive.
Meanwhile in real world, sulking birthday girl Sally locks herself in her bedroom over a private matter. As her friends try to persuade her to return to the party, she watches the television broadcast. Suddenly, the demon out of the Forbidden Zone notices her, climbs through the television and attacks the young girl. Sally is transformed into a demon and attacks her friends, turning all but two of them into bloodthirsty creatures. Their bile begins to seep through the building’s ceilings and into other apartments, thus repeating the cycle of utter carnage and spreading their deadly virus. For DEMONS 2, the selected soundtrack was more British New Wave orientated, featuring tracks by bands such as The Cult, Dead Can Dance, The Smith and The Art Of Noise.
Incidentally, Dario Argento’s daughter Asia has small role in the splatter film and at the time she was only eight years old. Little wonder she went on to become a cult icon for the Italian horror cinema.
