Babou Ceesay is a Gambian actor that trained at the highly respected Oxford School of Drama and shortly after graduation was cast as Malcolm in Max Stafford-Clarks critically acclaimed production of Macbeth.

That same year he went on to star as Billy in the hit feature film Severance, also starring Danny Dyer, Toby Stevens and Tim McInnerny. His role in Severance gained him critical recognition, including being named the “face to watch” by the Independent.

He has appeared opposite Andrew Garfield at the award winning National Theatre production The Overwhelming. This earned him a Best Ensemble nomination for the Whats on Stage awards.

Babou has TV, film and theatre credits that include Silent Witness, Law and Order, Whistleblower, A Midsummer Nights Dream, The Gods Weep, Elektra, Casualty, Luther, Bang Bang Bang, Getting On and Strikeback: Vengence (to name but a few).

Next year he will be starring in two episodes of Lewis, replacing Laurence Fox as his new sidekick, and alongside Thandie Newton and Chiwetel Ejiofor in the hugely anticipated Half of a Yellow Sun film.
