(Cover) - EN Movies - Philip Seymour Hoffman is set to struggle in God’s Pocket.
The Academy Award-winning actor has reportedly signed on to play the male lead in the dramatic thriller.
According to Deadline, Philip will portray protagonist Mickey in John Slattery’s directorial debut.
The feature is set in a rough blue-collar neighbourhood called God’s Pocket. Leon, the stepson of Philip’s character Mickey, dies in a foul play riddled construction "accident”. Mickey attempts to get rid of Leon’s body and hopes the memory will be buried along with the deceased. When a journalist comes around Mickey’s home asking questions, he soon finds himself in a lethal quandary. He can’t bury the body, his wife is not pleased and his financial problems multiply.
Richard Jenkins, Christina Hendricks and John Turturro are also God’s Pocket ensemble members.
Helmer John adapted Pete Dexter’s eponymous novel to screen with Alex Metcalf.
Thespian Philip is producing the film under his Cooper’s Town Productions banner alongside Park Pictures. Director John’s Shoestring Pictures is also making its production debut with God’s Pocket.
The full list of producers on this project include Sam Bisbee, Jackie Kelman Bisbee, Slattery, Lance Acord and Galt Niederhoffer for Park Pictures while Emily Ziff and Hoffman represent Cooper’s Town.
