Seth MacFarlane won’t host next year’s Academy Awards due to schedule conflicts.

The comedian was the master of ceremonies at the gilded prize giving in February.

While critics squirmed at some of his off-colour jokes it’s been rumoured Seth might return to host once again.

The Family Guy creator took to Twitter on Monday revealing there’s no truth to those reports.

"Traumatized critics exhale: I'm unable to do the Oscars again," he mused.

“Tried to make it work schedule-wise, but I need sleep."

The 39-year-old star commended producers of the telecast, Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, but admitted their involvement wasn’t enough to bring him back.

Seth did, however, offer suggestions as to who they might hire as his replacement.

“I highly recommend the job, as Zadan and Meron are two of the most talented producers in the business. My suggestion for host is Joaquin Phoenix,” he proclaimed.

Seth had earlier brushed off rumours he might return.

When a fan tweeted him asking if he might present the show again earlier this year, he fired back a quick denial.

“No way. Lotta fun to have done it, though,” he wrote.

Seth followed in the footsteps of former Oscars hosts Steve Martin, Ellen DeGeneres, James Franco and Anne Hathaway and Whoopi Goldberg.

Producers have yet to announce who will take the reins on the 2014 ceremony.
