Eva Longoria has joked she “looked like Harry Potter” while graduating from university.

The actress received her master's degree in Chicano studies from California State University on Wednesday.

She proudly posted a picture of herself posing in her official outfit alongside her mother and father, although Eva didn’t seem too enamoured with her outfit.

“In my cap and gown with mom and dad! I look like Harry Potter!” she captioned the image on Twitter.

Earlier in the day the 38-year-old star took to the social networking site to discuss her excitement about the special day.

“Big day today!!! Very excited to graduate for my Master's degree in Chicano Studies! You're never too old or too busy to continue your education!” she wrote.

Eva’s friends were quick to congratulate her on her achievement. Her Desperate Housewives co-star Marcia Cross is astounded by how busy and varied the actress’ life is.

“Huge congratulations on your graduation today!!!! From Canne to Cap and Gown. You are really something. Xoxo (sic),” she wrote, in reference to the on-going Cannes International Film Festival.

Many of Eva’s other friends also publicly praised her, with Bill Rancic sending congratulations and Jane Fonda writing a blog post about how inspirational Eva is.

“She does these things with such ease and grace,” the older actress gushed.

Eva’s master’s degree included a study of the issues affecting the Chicano/Latino community. She recently admitted she was still working on her thesis as she wanted to ensure it was perfect before submitting it.

"I go to night school and it's been challenging but so satisfying. I love history. It authenticates my activism, my philanthropy and my politics which I want to be my life's work," she said of the course last year.
