(Cover) - EN Movies - Morgan Freeman has reportedly landed a role in Luc Besson's forthcoming action thriller Lucy.
The Oscar-winner is engaged to play a pivotal role opposite Scarlett Johansson, according to The Wrap.
Lucy centres on a woman who is coerced into being a drug mule. When the narcotic she carries enters her bloodstream, Lucy develops superhuman abilities.
She is able to instantly assimilate knowledge, develops telekinesis and she can't feel pain.
When she discovers her newfound abilities will eventually lead to her death, Lucy seeks out the help of a professor studied in brain chemistry, played by Morgan.
Universal has international distribution rights on the film in all countries except for France, Benelux and China.
French director Luc penned the screenplay and will be producing the movie with his EuropaCorp CEO Christophe Lambert.
Morgan previously worked with Luc on Unleashed. Luc produced the film.
The actor already has a handful of films scheduled for release through 2013.
He is narrating historic film We the People and will star in action adventure The Last Knights and comedy Last Vegas, opposite Robert De Niro. Those films are currently in post-production for a 2013 release.
He is currently filming animation action comedy The Lego Movie and sci-fi action drama Transcendence.
Next up for the star is Life Itself. The Richard Loncraine comedy is currently in pre-production for a 2014 release.
