(Cover) - EN Movies - Lily Collins says her parents “sighed with relief” when she won a part in Snow White.

The actress is the daughter of drummer Phil Collins and Jill Tavelman. Earlier this year it was announced she’d won the lead part in a new adaptation of the classic fairytale, which is yet to be given a name. Lily has joked her family were thrilled when she landed the role as it means she’ll finally stop watching the Disney animation original.

“I spent two crazy days: the audition in the morning and then meeting with the director in the afternoon... The next day I took a flight to San Francisco to present [movie] Priest. I was leaving the plane when I received a call about Snow White. I got the role, and honestly, I did not think it would happen! I have realised one of my childhood dreams. And my parents will sigh with relief: I've plagued them with Disney cartoons for years!”

Tarsem Singh is directing the movie, while Sean Bean, Julia Roberts and Armie Hammer are also appearing. Lily remains astounded to be sharing the screen with such legends, especially as she knows some other big names wanted the role.

“I still find it hard to believe! I was in the running alongside some very important actresses such as Natalie Portman, Scarlett Johansson and Anne Hathaway. I knew the outcome on April 1st and I thought it was a joke,” she told Italian magazine Flair.

The movie is slated for release in March next year.
