Actresses Dakota Johnson and Rebel Wilson hope their wild new movie will prompt single people to live a little.

The Hollywood A-listers star in new romantic comedy How to Be Single, and Fifty Shades of Grey star Dakota is impressed with the movie's message.

She thinks the film offers a refreshing perspective on what it means to be an unattached woman.

"Society has become a little bit more accepting of young women not having to attach themselves to a man in order to have an identity," she told The Hollywood Reporter. "The whole reason I wanted to do this movie was to make sure that women feel like it's OK to just figure out who they are and what they want to do with their lives and their brains, and take time to cultivate their personalities and interests. That's something I haven't really seen in a romantic comedy these days."

Rebel enjoyed a brief romance with fellow comedian Mickey Gooch Jr. last year, but reports suggest they called it quits in September (15).

The 35-year-old funnywoman has spent a lot of her adult years single, but she is so glad life turned out this way for her, as she was able to take part in a plethora of exciting activities as a result, including scaling the Drakensberg mountains in South Africa.

"I got up really early just to climb it and when I got to the top, there were wild baboons - it was the most magical thing," Rebel recalled. "Those kind of adventures, I think, they're easier to have when you're single because you can just go out and explore the world."

How to Be Single, which also stars Alison Brie and Leslie Mann, hits U.S. cinemas on 12 February (16).
