Ben Stiller: 'Bowie cameo was career high point'

David Bowie's turn in Zoolander was a career high point for Ben Stiller.

The late singer, who passed away from cancer in January (16), starred in the 2001 comedy flick as himself, judging Ben's alter ego Derek Zoolander in a runway walk-off between him and rival model Hansel (Owen Wilson).

With the release of Zoolander 2 just a week away, Ben has been remembering how special it was when David said yes to the cameo.

"I'm still shocked that he agreed to do it," he said at the Zoolander 2 premiere in London, reports Britain's Daily Star newspaper. "It was the best cameo ever for us.

"He was incredibly gracious and kind to everybody and he completely got it, as you can imagine. David was so ahead of the curve, I guess. It was really a high point in my career that he came down to spend time with us."

Zoolander isn't the only time David turned his hand at comedy. The singer, who was also a accomplished actor, again starred as himself in Ricky Gervais' hit show Extras in 2006, which Ben also had a stint in.

His comic timing was so accurate that Zoolander producers let him have free reign with his lines. "David had a great sense of humour. He got what the joke was and he had fun playing around with it," Ben smiled.

"He loved the part where he had to slip through Derek's legs to call the walk-off. He even came up with a bit of writing on his hand and he was a very good actor as we all know."

Ben revealed he was devastated to here of the 69-year-old's passing, adding: "Bowie is sadly missed, it is just terrible news."
