Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin are on the verge of making their conscious uncoupling permanent by finalising their divorce.
The A-List couple announced their separation after more than a decade of marriage in March 2014, and Gwyneth filed divorce papers in April last year (15).
Now, according to editors at TMZ.com they've hammered out a divorce settlement and are finally ready to put pen to paper to formally end their marriage.
Reports had suggested the divorce proceedings stalled after Chris failed to file a response, causing a judge reviewing the case to warn that if he did not respond a judgement would be issued in the Sliding Doors star's favour as she'd filed the initial petition.
However, the gossip website now reports that any delay in the Coldplay star's response was deliberate, as the couple did not want to draw undue attention by filing additional legal documents while their representatives were working on a settlement.
A report in Britain's Sun newspaper last month (Mar16) suggested Chris had decided to sign documents bringing their marriage to an end and now a final settlement is appears imminent.
It will reportedly see the musician and the actress receive joint custody of their children 11-year-old Apple and 9-year-old Moses.
The couple's split seems to have remained amicable, with Gwyneth regularly inviting her ex-spouse round for dinner and on holidays together.
"Chris is always welcome at my house and I at his. We go on holidays together - it's all very relaxed," she tells You magazine.
In fact, editors at TMZ.com suggest the pair's friendship is one reason their divorce has been delayed, claiming the only reason their divorce documents have not been signed and filed yet is because they have been on holiday together with their children in Peru.
