Dakota Johnson is struggling with how to handle fame and navigate the direction of her career.

The 26-year-old became a household name when she was cast as Anastasia Steele in raunchy film Fifty Shades of Grey, which was released last year (15). Although she has other film credits to her name, Dakota still feels uncertain about her acting ability, what direction her life should take, and has moments where she is overwhelmed by her new found fame.

In a chat Chrissie Hynde for Interview magazine, the rocker recalled her first time meeting Dakota, when she was reluctant to call herself an actress because she was still finding her feet, and Dakota admitted that is still the case.

"That still feels accurate to me," she said. "I still feel like I don't know what I'm doing. Like, I'm unsure of what my life will be like. I mean, I have such an obsession with making movies that I probably will always do that. But sometimes my life can feel so suffocating, and then it can feel so massive, like I don't have a handle on it at all, and I don't know where it's going or what I'm going to do."

Despite being currently known as an actress, Dakota wonders if there are other avenues for her to explore in the future. Discussing her acting career, she added, "I wonder if that's it. I don't know. It doesn't feel like it to me."

Dakota also observed that audiences rarely stick with actors throughout their career like they used to and people are always on the lookout for a new face rather than follow a performer's body of work.

Dakota spoke to Chrissie over the phone from Vancouver, Canada where she is shooting sequels Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed back-to-back. On the day of the interview, she had been filming a sex scene for seven hours straight and was "over it", explaining that's not comfortable and is actually "pretty tedious".
