Woody Harrelson found War for the Planet of the Apes shoot ‘daunting’

Woody Harrelson found filming War for the Planet of the Apes to be “daunting”.

The American actor has joined the franchise for the upcoming third instalment as Colonel, a ruthless leader of humans who battles the ape army, led by Caesar (Andy Serkis). Directed by Matt Reeves, who helmed the last movie Dawn of the Planet of the Apes back in 2014, Woody was grateful to join the action universe in the blockbuster.

“I’m like, ‘Geez I can’t wait to see the third one!’ and little did I know I’d be in it,” he told Collider of being a big fan of the franchise. “So I feel really lucky to be a part of it. I think Matt is an incredible, gifted, super smart filmmaker. I don’t think there’s a lot of people who can pull off what he’s doing, it is so humungous.

“It was a bit daunting, I must say, at first. It took me a little while to get used to it because it was definitely the biggest thing I’ve ever been a part of, it was like going to work at a city, literally.”

Woody also heaps praise on Andy, dubbing him an extraordinary actor and a “great human being”.

The Zombieland star has landed another life-changing part recently too – he’s set to appear in an upcoming Star Wars movie. The Han Solo spin-off is adding more names to its cast, with Alden Ehrenreich playing the title hero while Donald Glover and Emilia Clarke also star. Woody will be playing the mentor to the young Han Solo, a position he embraced in The Hunger Games movies.

“It’s mind-blowing. I can’t really... you know, I never would’ve imagined that I’d get this opportunity so I’m really pumped about it,” he gushed. “I really like those directors (Phil Lord and Chris Miller), I think they’re really great.
