Actress Kate Beckinsale is asking a U.S. divorce judge to allow her to keep the money she's earned following her split from filmmaker Len Wiseman.

The former couple sparked rumours of a separation in late 2015, when Len, 44, was spotted out with model CJ Franco and Kate was snapped on the red carpet without her wedding ring.

They remained quiet about the reports, but in October (16), the moviemaker, who directed his wife in the Underworld movies, made the break-up official by filing court papers to end their marriage.

He cited irreconcilable differences for the split, and waived his right to spousal support.

Now Kate has responded to the filing, and is asking to keep all of her jewellery and personal effects.

She also wants to ensure everything she has banked since parting ways with Len remains hers, although neither she nor the director have listed a date of separation.

In addition, Kate has decided to reserve the option to request support from her ex, according to TMZ.com.

She has hired celebrity attorney Laura Wasser to represent her.

Kate and Len, who have no kids together, wed in 2004, and despite their failed marriage, their relationship is said to be amicable.

"They are still friendly and spend time together in L.A. when Kate is there...," a source previously told People.com. "They have both had complicated schedules and have grown apart."

Kate, 43, is also close to another ex, Welsh actor Michael Sheen, with whom she shares 18-year-old daughter, Lily.
