Burt Reynolds: 'Kathleen Turner is an overrated actress'

Burt Reynolds has slammed his Switching Channels co-star Kathleen Turner as "overrated," revealing they never got along while working together.

The actor was asked which film he would remove from his resume if he could during an appearance on U.S. late night show Watch What Happens Live! on Thursday (16Mar18), and insisted it would be the 1988 comedy.

"It would be the one I did with Kathleen Turner," he said. "The picture wasn't good, and I didn't get along with her.'

Burt was later quizzed about who he felt was the most overrated actor in the 1970s and 1980s and he immediately turned on his former co-star, while offering up kind words for his Best Little Whorehouse in Texas castmate Dolly Parton, who once called him a "nightmare" to work with.

'There's nothing bad to say about Dolly," he said. "Nobody has anything to say about Dolly that's bad - or they're an idiot. She's just the best. The kindest, the sweetest, just the most special lady I ever worked with.'

Meanwhile, Burt reflected on some of the more iconic roles he turned down, including Han Solo in Star Wars and Richard Gere's part in Pretty Woman.

But there's one missed part he's still sore about - Randle Patrick McMurphy in the 1975 movie One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. Jack Nicholson won an Academy Award for his portrayal of the schemer.

"I didn't pass on that," he said. "I wanted it desperately. In fact, I tried to kill Jack, but it didn't work. You know you can't out drink Jack. You can't out smoke him either."
