Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman has been tapped to star in Spike Lee's next movie Da 5 Bloods.

The director has been enjoying huge success with his most recent film BlacKkKlansman, which was nominated for six Oscars - including Best Picture and a nod for Lee as director.

And now he's plotting his next move, after signing up to take the helm of Da 5 Bloods, which "follows Vietnam veterans who return to the jungle to find their lost innocence", according to Variety.

The industry publication adds that Netflix is already in talks to distribute the film, which is based on an original screenplay by Danny Bilson and Paul De Meo, and a rewrite by Matthew Billingsly.

Lee is also set to produce the film with Beatriz Levin, Lloyd Levin and Jon Kilik.

Speaking about the upcoming project, Lee told Variety: "To quote my brother Jay-Z from Da People’s Republic of Brooklyn 'On to Da Next One'."

It's expected that production on Da 5 Bloods could start as early as next month (Mar19) - following the Oscars and conclusion of Lee's awards campaign for BlacKkKlansman.

Leon: The Professional actor Jean Reno and Get Shorty star Delroy Lindo are also said to be in negotiations to star in the film. Da 5 Bloods wouldn't be the first time Lindo has teamed up with Lee - they have previously worked together on movies Clockers, Crooklyn and Malcolm X.

Like Lee, Boseman enjoyed a stellar 2018, following the release of Black Panther, in which he plays the title role. He's gearing up for the release of Avengers: Endgame, which will see him reprise the character, and also recently finished shooting action flick 17 Bridges, in which he stars opposite Sienna Miller, J.K. Simmons, and Taylor Kitsch.
