Milo Ventimiglia is "incredibly proud" of his This Is Us co-star Mandy Moore for coming forward with allegations about her ex-husband Ryan Adams.

The Walk to Remember actress was one of seven women who shared stories about the musician in an expose last week (ends17Feb19). She told The New York Times that Ryan, who she was married to between 2009 and 2015, was psychologically abusive during their relationship and his controlling behaviour allegedly hurt her music career, allegations which he has denied.

A number of celebrities such as Minka Kelly and Amber Tamblyn heaped praise on Mandy for sharing her story, and now her onscreen husband Milo has added his support.

"There are things that people live through and are able to have a forum to discuss it and speak about it honestly. You know I am incredibly proud of Mandy for just being who Mandy is... which is a very giving, inspiring woman," Milo told Access Hollywood. "If anyone else can take away from that situation or be inspired, to let someone know that they're not alone in their feelings...that's a great thing to do."

Following the expose, the actress opened up about her marriage on Marc Maron's WTF podcast and explained that they had an "unhealthy" dynamic.

"I was living my life for him...I had no sense of self. I felt like I was drowning. It was so untenable and unsustainable and it was so lonely. I was so sad. I was lonely with him," she said, adding that she didn't work full time during their marriage because her personal life would "fall apart".

Ryan said the expose was "upsettingly inaccurate" and Mandy's description of their relationship was "completely inconsistent with his view", insisting he was fully supportive of her "well-deserved professional success".
