Daniel Craig used to pretend he was an accomplished horse rider in order to land movie roles.

The British hunk shot to international fame after he was cast as the sixth actor to portray fictional secret agent James Bond in the iconic film series. Daniel made his debut in the 2006 film Casino Royale and was nominated for a BAFTA award for his role.

The critically acclaimed actor insists his early movie career wasn’t so plain sailing. The 43-year-old star would promise movie bosses he was a skilled horseman to make sure he wouldn’t miss out on potential roles, when in reality, he didn’t have a clue.

"The horse movies I had done before had so little money that I didn't have the chance to practice," he is quoted as saying.

"I would just turn up to shoot and get on a horse pretending to know what I was doing - sometimes just to get the part.”

Daniel is starring in upcoming science fiction western film Cowboys & Aliens, where he portrays Jake Lonergan. The star says he became a dab hand at riding a horse in preparation for the movie, so much so that he was considering purchasing one.
“But I was on a horse every day for two weeks before we started shooting this movie so by the end, had I had the land, I would have bought a horse!” he quipped.
