(Cover) - EN Movies - Will Ferrell says new movie Everything Must Go is one of the “highlights” of his career.

The actor was honoured by BAFTA in London last night, with an event to talk about his Life in Pictures.

Will was thrilled that he was being recognised for a film in which he plays a more serious role than usual.

However, he also admitted that at times he found the change in tone difficult.

“It’s really challenging and yet it’s kind of freeing,” he told Cover Media. “You’re getting to exercise different muscles and it’s frightening as well. But that’s what made it one of the highlights of my career.”

The 44-year-old confessed that he has wanted to move away from comedy for a while.

But he claims he is rarely offered such thought-provoking parts.

“I have [wanted to do a serious movie] for a long time, but it really hasn’t come my way so much,” he sighed. “Stranger than Fiction was the first movie I got to do that was outside of the comedy box, and this has really been the only other thing that’s come along, that was similar to that in a way, which is why I jumped at the chance to do it. Anyone who’s creative always wants to stretch themselves and do something different then what they’re known for.”

Everything Must Go follows alcoholic salesman Nick, played by Will, who relapses, which causes him to lose his wife and his job. He holds a yard sale on his front lawn in an attempt to start over and forms new friendships with his neighbours.

The film sees the actor appear alongside British star Rebecca Hall. Will was impressed by Rebecca’s skills.

“[She is] wonderful, she’s such a talented actress, so effortless,” he gushed. “She made me look better than I probably am.”

Everything Must Go is released in the UK on the 14 October.
