A Minecraft Movie debuts at Number 1 on Official Film Chart

A Minecraft Movie flies straight into the Official Film Chart at Number 1 this week.

The Jared Hess-directed fantasy adventure comedy movie, based on Mojang Studios’ hit 2011 video game Minecraft, stars Jason Momoa as Garrett, Jack Black as Steve, Danielle Brooks as Dawn, Emma Myers as Natalie and Sebastian Hansen as Henry.

When struggling salesman Steve breaks into a mine and discovers the Orb of Dominance and the Earth Crystal, a mysterious portal opens and pulls four characters into the Overworld; a cubic world that requires imagination in abundance if they’re to escape.

Recently, A Minecraft Movie made Official Singles Chart history as Jack Black’s viral track Steve’s Lava Chicken became the shortest song ever to make the UK Top 40, coming in at a total duration of just 34 seconds.

Elsewhere, Warfare secures a brand-new entry at Number 4 this week. The 2025 war film, written and directed by Ray Mendoza and Alex Garland, is inspired by Mendoza’s time as a U.S. Navy SEAL during the Iraq war, and stars the likes of D'Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai (Ray), Will Poulter (Erik), Cosmo Jarvis (Elliott) and Kit Connor (Tommy).
