Actress Ali Larter believes people are authors of their own lives.

The 39-year-old Heroes star is currently in South Africa filming Resident Evil: The Final Chapter.

But Ali doesn’t limit herself to focusing on just one venture at a time, as she thinks it’s beneficial to pursue each and every heart’s desire.

“I’m actually producing my own cooking show, because I love to cook,” she told Shockya.com. “What’s interesting about the world right now is that we don’t need to be in a box. We can live big, and do what whatever our passion is. If you have the energy, you can go and create it. That’s why I really feel so lucky right now-I get to explore all of these different creative aspects of my life.”

Ali is promoting her new supernatural thriller The Diabolical, which centres on a single mother who moved into a haunted house and gets terrorised by the ghosts.

In real life Ali shares two children, four-year-old son Theodore and 10-month-old daughter Vivienne, with her husband Hayes MacArthur.

Ali really connected with her character in The Diabolical because she understands how the constraints of parenthood can restrict daily affairs.

The Diabolical will become available on VoD, in theatres and via iTunes on 16 October (15) and Ali thinks it’s smart to release movies across several platforms moving forward.

“I absolutely think it’s beneficial,” she said. “People are busier than ever, so however they can get films, they will. I love going to the theater, but it is harder than ever, since I have two kids. “Whenever you go to the theater, you can spend $60 on just the babysitter. So I understand that struggle, and think Video On Demand is really helpful in that sense. I will always love going into a theater, but VOD is a great way to get movies seen by more viewers.”
