Andrew Garfield's fatherly feelings

Andrew Garfield has fatherly instincts.

The British actor appears to be back with girlfriend Emma Stone after the pair had a rumoured break up earlier this year.

While he's yet to become a father, Andrew hopes one day to have a family. For his latest film role in 99 Homes he plays a single dad, which got the star thinking about fatherhood.

"I've always had them somewhere. I think all men do and all women have that motherly instinct, and it was exciting to explore that and daunting and scary. I kind of thought, 'Well, how do I do that? If I haven't experienced it, can I do it?' but then I realised that's the situation of every single father in the history of time," Andrew mused to ET.

"Everybody who becomes a father has never been a father before, so we're all going into this initiation totally blind and groping in the dark so I kind of went with that feeling of not knowing what the hell I was doing and it kind of helped."

Andrew also touched on one of his first big screen roles, Facebook drama The Social Network, with the 32-year-old admitting he misses working with co-star Jesse Eisenberg.

On the subject of his time as Spider-Man, Andrew doesn't seem too downhearted that fellow Brit Tom Holland is taking over as the web-slinging hero.

“The pressure to get it right, to please everyone... it’s not going to happen. You end up pleasing no one, or everyone just a little bit. Like, ‘Eh, that was good.’ [The films are] mass-marketed, like ‘We want 50-year-old white men to love it, gay teenagers to love it, bigot homophobes in Middle America to love it, 11-year-old girls to love it.’ That’s canning Coke," he recently explained to Indiewire.
