Anne Hathaway was more than happy to take on the "challenge" of wearing a spacesuit.

The 31-year-old actress stars in Christopher Nolan's big budget sci-fi Interstellar as scientist Amelia Brand, who jets to another galaxy to find a planet for mankind to settle on before earth dies. A majority of the scenes set in outer-space required Anne to wear the real gear, an experience she won't be forgetting any time soon.

"I loved the spacesuit, from the second I put it on... I lit up, I felt like a kid. I was so happy, it felt like Halloween instantly and I remember Chris comes in and looks at me and says, 'That looks great, but we have to adjust something and it'll take about 20 minutes,' and you're just like, 'OK, I'll be looking at jet packs,'" she laughed to Cover Media at the film's European press conference in London.

"It was challenging, which became part of the thing I loved about it. It wasn't easy, you had to earn the right to wear it. After the first fitting after about an hour of wearing it I thought, 'Oh this is heavy, this is starting to pinch my shoulders.' I thought, 'Ooo I'm not wearing a catsuit in this one [like I did in The Dark Knight Rises, also by Nolan], I can eat!' And I did actually have to work out just as hard for this film just to stand up, to be able to make the days."

Iceland was the chosen location for the scenes in another world, with its icy landscapes lending perfectly to the atmosphere of the movie. Leading man Matthew McConaughey, who plays pilot Cooper, embraced the freezing conditions and feels lucky to be able to visit such magnificent countries as part of his job.

"What was great about the suits in Iceland is that we were more hot, I remember sweating. We were not cold in Iceland. The crew was pretty jealous of the space suits," he grinned during the event. "That was the most adventurous part of the shoot because the elements there... we did have one very hairy day when the wind picked up to 50 m/ph and we had to get off the glacier and helicopters were flying around. But it's a naturally especially beautiful place."
