Reality TV star Audrina Patridge is engaged to wed BMX rider Corey Bohan.

The 30-year-old television personality, who rose to fame on her hit series The Hills, began dating the 33-year-old extreme sports athlete in 2008, and the couple have enjoyed an on-off relationship over the years.

The pair have decided to bring their relationship to the next level by walking down the aisle and during an interview with People magazine, Audrina recounted details of his surprise proposal, which took place at the Summit House in Orange County, California on Friday 20 November 2015.

"Corey pulled it off pretty well," Audrina recalled. "Although I noticed he didn't really eat dinner.

"When dessert time came he ordered cheesecake and the waiter brought it out on a platter with a beautiful silver cover.

"I noticed all the waitresses gathering with phones and thought, What is going on! Then all of a sudden the waiter lifted the silver cover and I saw the ring in a box with white rose petals on the plate.

"Then Corey dropped to his knee and said, 'We have been together for many years now and I love you more than anything. I want to spend the rest of my life with you – will you marry me' I was in shock and kind of didn't even hear him but I said yes!"

Some members of her family were clued in on Corey's proposal, as he formally asked Audrina's father for her hand in marriage three weeks before popping the question.

Things have not always been so happy in their relationship, as they broke up in 2014 briefly. The split reportedly had something to do with the strain of their long-distance romance, with Audrina based in Los Angeles and Corey spending a lot of time in his home country of Australia.

Audrina told Celebuzz she and her beau were often apart for “months at a time”, making things “hard”.

“Sometimes you kind of just grow apart and then you get together and it’s like, ‘Oh, I missed you!’” she explained.

However even though they struggled in the past, her representative claims the couple are on cloud nine following their engagement.

"They couldn’t be happier!" the spokesperson gushed to ET Online.
