Kevin Bacon is joining Johnny Depp in upcoming crime drama Black Mass.

The actor, who’s on hiatus from US TV drama The Following, will play FBI Special Agent Charles McGuire in the film, starring Johnny Depp as notorious Boston mob boss Whitey Bulger, Deadline reports.

The Warner Bros. feature already boasts a star-studded cast, including Joel Edgerton, Benedict Cumberbatch, Jesse Plemons, Sienna Miller, Dakota Johnson, Rory Cochran, Julianne Nicholson and Adam Scott, according to the outlet.

And it’s not the only project Kevin will apparently be working on this summer.

Deadline reports the actor has also been busy filming indie thriller Cop Car in Colorado. Jon Watts is directing the feature, about a corrupt police officer whose car is stolen by two kids, not knowing a dead body is in the trunk.

Kevin also recently shot thriller 6 Miranda Drive in Los Angeles. The film, directed by Greg McLean, tells the story of a family whose trip to the Grand Canyon ends with fears about a supernatural force following them home.

While the actor has plenty of work ahead, he recently admitted he wishes he could remain out of the limelight.

"Fame is very, very bizarre. If you just got it all of a sudden, out of nowhere, you would be like: ‘This is very weird,'" he told British newspaper The Metro earlier this year.

"Then you kind of get used to it and think: ‘This is what my life is.’ If I had superpowers, invisibility would be a totally cool thing. The idea of going through the world invisibly would be so fascinating to me."

The star hasn’t always shunned fame, however. In fact, he believes anyone in his profession who says otherwise must be lying.

"I do not believe those people who say: ‘Well, you know, he’s an actor but he’s really super-shy and doesn’t want the limelight,'" he insisted.

"That’s rubbish – I don’t believe it. Show me an actor who doesn’t want to be famous and I will show you a liar. Actors want to be famous. That’s part of what drives us. That’s what drove me initially."
