Ben Affleck: I'm thankful for my family

Ben Affleck is grateful to have his kids and wife by his side on Thanksgiving.

The 42-year-old actor will be one of millions of people celebrating the annual holiday on November 27, which is about appreciating the blessing of the harvest and celebrating the past year. Speaking about what he's thankful for this holiday season, Ben cited his family, wife Jennifer and kids Seraphina, Violet and Samuel, as his biggest triumph.

"I'm thankful for my children, and their health, and for my wife, who does great work," Ben told Entertainment Tonight. "And I'm thankful for the many, many blessings that my career has brought me... You know, sometimes there's stuff about it that's inconvenient or difficult, but it's important to remember the gifts."

It's been a big year for the star. His movie Gone Girl received rave reviews and he was announced as the new Batman in upcoming superhero flick Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Spouse Jennifer has also had a great 2014, with roles in popular films such as Draft Day and Men, Women & Children. She also shared the important things to her this Thanksgiving.

"I'm thankful for access to medical care, I'm thankful that there are books in my home, I'm thankful that my kids are warm enough, the list is endless," she explained.

The couple were speaking from the Save the Children Illumination Gala last night in New York. Ben was honoured at the event thanks to his charitable work in Africa and Jennifer is a member of the board of trustees.

They often speak about their kids and the actor recently opened up about his parenting style.

“You just try to instil confidence in your children and make them feel good about themselves because they’re going to encounter, as we all do, negativity and negative feedback,” Ben told USA Today.
