Bob Odenkirk fine with Breaking Bad fame

Bob Odenkirk is OK with being defined by his Breaking Bad character.

The American actor became a global star after being cast as sleazy lawyer Saul Goodman in the mega successful show, about a cancer stricken chemistry teacher who becomes a crystal meth drugs lord.

The show also launched Aaron Paul and revived former Malcolm in the Middle star Bryan Cranston's career, bagging two Golden Globes and 12 Emmys in the process.

"If this role defines me, that's totally fine," Bob reasoned to British magazine Grazia.

"I'm knocked out at the size of the audience we've got."

Bob's legal alter ego is back in his own spinoff series Better Call Saul. The show debuted on Netflix last month and has been well received.

It's a prequel to Breaking Bad, telling the story of Saul before he got involved with Walter White and Jesse Pinkman.

He also doesn't yet go by the name of Saul, but Jimmy McGill. Bob hasn't needed the help of special effects to look younger, but he soon will.

"When you see me as Jimmy, it's just me with a bit more energy. But then you're going to see him even younger. That'll be CGI-ed," he smiled.

The show is set to be a slow burner, just like its predecessor was.

"In the ninth episode of the season, like in Breaking Bad, it will tie together," he revealed.

Breaking Bad favourite Mike Ehrmantraut (played by Jonathan Banks) also stars.

Aaron has been tweeting his support for the show, urging his followers to tune into the spinoff.

"Who's watching Better Caul Saul tonight? It's so good!! Can't wait for everyone to see the surprises ahead. #AMC (sic,)" Aaron posted before the first episode.
