A film about Amy Winehouse’s life is among the 2015 Cannes Film Festival line-up.

The annual event will run from May 13 to May 24 this year, with the films in and out of competition announced during a press conference today.

Among them is Asif Kapadia’s Amy, which takes a look at the life of the legendary singer, who tragically passed away in 2011 aged just 27. The film will get a midnight screening at the prestigious French festival.

Also screening at midnight is Hong Won-Chan’s Office.

Among those vying for the coveted Palme d’Or prize are Justin Kurzel’s Macbeth, The Assassin by Hou Hsiao Hsien and Louder Than Bombs by Joachim Trier.

Madonna by Shin Su-won has been named in the Un Certain Regard category, joining Anna Winocour’s Maryland and The Fourth Direction by Gurvinder Singh.

Two films in the line-up had already been announced by festival director Thierry Frémaux prior to today: George Miller’s Mad Max: Fury Road will show out of competition and Emmanuelle Bercot's La Tête Haute (Standing Tall) will open proceedings. It’s the first time a female director has held the honour in 28 years.

Out of competition are also Irrational Man by Woody Allen, Inside Out by Pete Docter and Ronaldo del Carmen and Le Petit Prince (The Little Prince) by Mark Osborne.

Natalie Portman’s directorial debut Sipur Al Ahava Ve Choshech (A Tale of Love and Darkness) will get a special screening.

Frémaux and festival president Pierre Lescure made today’s announcement for the 68th Cannes Film Festival at the Normandie cinema in Paris.

Joel and Ethan Coen will preside over the main jury, while Isabella Rossellini is president of the jury for the Un Certain Regard category. She will also present Stig Bjorkman's documentary about her mother Ingrid Bergman.
