Cate Blanchett likes to be "pummelled by big Korean women" after a long flight.

The actress shared her unusual favourite post-travel treatment.

Her enjoyment of alternative medical practices isn't limited to massage, as she enjoys having needles stuck into her at times too.

"After a long flight I like to be pummelled by those big Korean women at traditional bath houses. I also see an acupuncturist for balanced blood flow. Acupuncture is like jumping into the surf - it reverses everything negative," Cate revealed to British magazine Easy Living.

The Australian star enjoys active holidays. The 43-year-old says her personal choice of getaway would be exploring freezing lands in the Antarctic rather than chilling by a pool.

"Our next holiday is to Budapest to visit friends. We're staying at the Four Seasons Gresham Palace hotel. I'm not really a resort person; I'd rather have an adventure, like our holidays to Iceland and the Galapagos Islands. I would love to go on an ice-breaking ship in the Antarctic," she explained.

"My favourite travel companion is my husband. I'm always 'busy busy busy' and trying to organise things, and he's good at putting his hands on my shoulders and saying, 'let's just stay in our pyjamas today'."
