Cate Blanchett too impatient to direct

(Cover) - EN Movies - Cate Blanchett doesn’t know if she has the “patience” to direct a movie.

The actress is one of the biggest names in Hollywood and has also enjoyed a successful theatre career. However, Cate has revealed an interest in stepping behind the camera after a particular project caught her eye.

“There is a film I’d love to direct, but I just don’t know if I’ve got the patience,” she told the April issue of the UK edition of Harper’s Bazaar. “In theatre, you can have an idea and get on with it. In film, you hear of people sitting on an idea for eight years, by which time the idea has changed and evolved and become something else.”

Cate and her husband Andrew Upton are currently artistic directors at the Sydney Theatre Company.

The 43-year-old also has two new movies coming up – Lawless which stars Ryan Gosling and Knight of Cups with Christian Bale and Natalie Portman.

However, Cate isn’t sure how much she will feature in the films, which will both be directed by Terrence Malick.

“I can’t guarantee I’ll end up in [the final cut], as is his wont,” she explained.

Cate has also reprised her role as Galadriel for The Hobbit movies, which are currently shooting in New Zealand.
