Chris Rock's high hopes for Tracy Morgan

Chris Rock is glad Tracy Morgan is "fighting his way back".

Tracy was hospitalised in June after the limousine bus he was riding in was involved in a six-vehicle collision, leaving him and others in a critical condition and taking the life of comedian James McNair. Tracy suffered serious brain injuries along with breaking his leg, femur, nose and ribs and it's thought he may need assistance to walk for the rest of his life.

He and Chris have worked together several times, including on film Death at a Funeral, and Chris is glad that his close pal is on the road to recovery.

"[Tracy] is fighting his way back," he told Entertainment Tonight. "It's sad. That's my boy. We've done three movies together, so I'm hoping for the best."

Earlier this week Tracy's lawyer Benedict Morelli issued a statement on the star's condition, detailing his rehabilitation.

"He's been out of the hospital for a while but he's busy with cognitive rehabilitation, speech rehabilitation and physical rehabilitation," Benedict explained. "He's still fighting to get better and he is making incremental progress... I mean he had massive fractures in various parts of his body including his face and he had a traumatic brain injury, a very severe one."

In the meantime Tracy and others in the crash have sued Wal-Mart for negligence as it was one of its trucks which smashed into the limousine that day. Earlier this month it was revealed the case against Wal-Mart driver Kevin Roper, who is accused of being fatigued, could be delayed until the criminal charges have been resolved.
