George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin are reportedly set to tie the knot in Italy.

According to friends the Hollywood hunk and his British fiancée are keen to say their I do's in Venice and were spotted in the Italian city eyeing up possible venues last month.

Sources say the celebration will be taking place in September, but George is insistent the location has to measure up to his strict requirements.

"George and Amal want to be married in Italy, but they need a location that offers them and their guests privacy," an insider divulged to Page Six.

With A-list pals including Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, Sandra Bullock and rumoured best man Matt Damon, secrecy is of the utmost importance.

It's thought George declined to hold the ceremony at his Lake Como estate because it isn't sheltered enough, with the Monuments Men star worried the noise would inconvenience his neighbours and local residents.

George, 53, and Amal were seen enjoying some Venetian hot spots last month. The happy couple were spotted dining at restaurant Da Ivo, with onlookers saying they toasted with Prosecco and white wine, then the group enjoyed sautéed shellfish, smoked tuna, mussel soup, crayfish and artichoke risotto and charcoal-grilled seabass before departing in a motorboat from a back pier close to the restaurant.

Aside from venue hunting for their big day George and human rights lawyer Amal are also said to be eyeing up property in another European city.

"Clooney has sent a request to real estate agents in the south of France. He is specifically shopping for a ‘house on the beach'. One agent has found a possible nest for Clooney just outside St. Tropez," a source recently said.
